2019 Ernaga Red Blend Organically Farmed Single Vineyard
Production Notes: The 2019 Ernaga Red Blend is a wine grown with care and love just like our other vineyards, only the varietals used hold special meaning to me. Cabernet Franc, one of the parentages of Cabernet Sauvignon, came from the Basque region in southern France. This also happens to be where my Great- Grandmother was from and as an ode to her, we have decided to give our newest wine her Maiden Name, Ernaga. I farmed this vineyard organically and took special care to pick both varietals at the peak of ripeness. This was to ensure that neither varietal would overshadow the other and would instead compliment each other in perfect harmony. Fermented only using native yeasts and aged in 40% New French Oak for 18 months, I decided after bottling to let it age another year in bottle before release.
Tasting Notes: A bouquet of cassis, red berries with hints of savory herbs, and floral notes are key indicators to the long cool ripening period we experienced in 2019. The fruit persists on the palate bringing fresh blackberry and mild notes of dried thyme along with well integrated tannins rounding out the overall experience this wine delivers.
